On Monday, 14th of Sawr, the agency reported that primary health services were provided to over 20 million people across the country.

According to the report, 60 percent of the service recipients were women, highlighting the persistent widespread health needs of women. Additionally, 10 million children and mothers received critical services and resources to prevent malnutrition.

UNICEF also noted that four million children received educational materials and services in schools and community-based and emergency education programs. This comes as educational restrictions imposed by the Taliban administration, especially on girls’ education, continue to overshadow equitable access to education for children.

The report further stated that 2.7 million people benefited from emergency water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services, which play a fundamental role in reducing infectious diseases and improving health conditions in vulnerable areas.

UNICEF emphasized that in 2026, it intends to treat more than one million children suffering from severe malnutrition. Achieving this goal amid the ongoing economic crisis and structural limitations in the country’s health system will require extensive cooperation and unobstructed access to all areas of Afghanistan.

UNICEF reports 5.6 million Afghan children accessed health services last year, with plans to treat over 1 million severely malnourished children in 2026.

[9,17,16

post-12118","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-health","category-important-news","category-secondary-headline
["GET
