Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of Turkey, emphasized the expansion of strategic cooperation between Ankara and Baghdad in various sectors during a phone conversation with Mohammed Al-Zaidi, Iraq’s prime ministerial candidate. Erdogan congratulated Al-Zaidi on his nomination and expressed hope that the new Iraqi government would soon be formed in a comprehensive and stable manner.<\/p>\n
According to a statement from the Directorate of Communications of the Turkish Presidency, Erdogan highlighted strengthening the institutional and strategic framework of relations between the two countries during the call and stated that bilateral cooperation will expand more than ever in the upcoming period.<\/p>\n
The Turkish president also referred to the \u201cDevelopment Road\u201d project, the fight against terrorism, cooperation in defense industries, energy, and transportation as the main pillars of the relationship and added that Ankara is determined to advance ties with Baghdad in these areas.<\/p>\n
