Poland’s Prime Minister has warned of what he described as a \u201cdisastrous collapse\u201d of NATO in response to US President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw approximately 5,000 American troops from Germany. Donald Tusk wrote on the social media platform X on Friday that the greatest threat to the transatlantic community is not external enemies but internal disintegration within the alliance. He emphasized that all members must strive to reverse this trend and preserve NATO\u2019s cohesion.<\/p>\n
Tusk\u2019s remarks came hours after Washington announced its decision to pull around 5,000 troops out of Germany, a move that follows recent tensions between the United States and some of its European allies.<\/p>\n
Earlier, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz criticized the US for lacking a clear strategy regarding withdrawal from the conflict with Iran, stating that the US is under pressure from Iran in negotiations. Following these comments, President Trump said he was considering reducing the US military presence in Germany.<\/p>\n
The US president has also expressed dissatisfaction with Italy and Spain, suggesting that American forces might be withdrawn from those countries as well. Referring to the conflict with Iran, Trump said that when the US needed support, some allies were not alongside Washington, and \u201cthis issue must be remembered.\u201d<\/p>\n
