On his X (formerly Twitter) page, without specifying how exactly this care should be delivered, Mr. Zaeef compared the government to the trunk of a tree and the people to its roots. He wrote, “Water the roots well, because if the roots are thirsty or sick, the trunk of the tree cannot remain healthy.”<\/p>\n
He further advised the Taliban that to maintain a stable and healthy governance, they must fully care for their people and subjects so that the system itself remains strong.<\/p>\n
These remarks come amid the Taliban administration’s previous efforts to prohibit criticism of its governance methods and the detention of several figures, including some prominent supporters, due to their dissent or expression of differing opinions.<\/p>\n
