In this incident, five people, including two children, lost their lives and eight others were injured.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement released by the Ministry of Defense on Friday evening, troops from the 4th Battalion of the 14th Border Brigade of the 219th &#8220;Omar Farooq&#8221; Corps participated in the rescue operation. The ministry did not provide exact numbers of those rescued but stated that several individuals were pulled from under the rubble.<\/p>\n<p>Local officials in Badakhshan had earlier reported that the incident occurred on Thursday in the Pastau area of the Awez village in Shahr-e Bozorg district. According to them, five miners who were extracting gold died when the hill collapsed.<\/p>\n<p>Local authorities also said that search efforts for other possible victims are ongoing. The injured were transferred to the health center in Shahr-e Bozorg district and are receiving treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Badakhshan is a mountainous province in the northeast of the country, known for its gold mines. However, lack of effective oversight and safety standards in many mining areas has consistently raised concerns about the safety of miners.
