The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment announced that during a meeting led by Syed Karim Hashemi with officials from the Shanghai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a cooperation memorandum was signed between the two parties. The meeting took place in Shanghai and was attended by several Chinese investors.<\/p>\n
According to the organization, discussions focused on expanding economic relations and creating practical cooperation opportunities between the private sectors of the two countries. Syed Karim Hashemi described Shanghai as one of the world’s most important economic and investment hubs and emphasized that Afghanistan, with its strategic location in the heart of Asia, can play a key role in connecting Central Asia and East Asia.<\/p>\n
He viewed China\u2019s Belt and Road Initiative as a significant opportunity for developing regional economic collaboration and added that Afghanistan is ready to actively participate within this framework. He stated that Afghanistan’s private sector is prepared to cooperate with Chinese investors in areas such as mining, agriculture, industry, transit, logistics, technology, manufacturing, carpets, precious stones, medicinal products, and banking.<\/p>\n
In response, the head of the Shanghai Chamber of Commerce welcomed the meeting and stressed the importance of expanding economic ties and practical cooperation with Afghanistan. At the end of the meeting, a cooperation memorandum was signed between the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment and the Shanghai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.<\/p>\n
