On Wednesday, 9th of Saur, the agency released a report emphasizing that the continuation of these services can strengthen women’s mental health and empowerment under the current difficult conditions.

According to the report, the experiences of women covered by support programs show that counseling services at mother and child care centers, especially for vulnerable women, have had a tangible effect in reducing mental health problems. These services include primary psychological support, individual counseling, and the provision of safe spaces.

UNFPA added that creating a safe environment and access to specialized counseling have succeeded in lowering levels of anxiety, fear, and psychological tension among many women. These programs also include training in stress management skills, boosting self-confidence, and self-care methods.

While the extensive restrictions imposed by the Taliban administration on women’s education, work, and social participation have increased psychological and social pressures on them, international organizations warn that interrupting or reducing such services could have serious consequences for the mental and social health of women and girls in the country. The United Nations Population Fund has stressed the need to continue and expand these supports.

UNFPA highlights the vital role of psychological counseling and humanitarian aid in supporting Afghan women’s mental health amid Taliban restrictions.

[9,17

post-11809","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-health","category-important-news
["GET
