Hakan Fidan, Turkey’s Foreign Minister, stated at a joint press conference with his Austrian counterpart in Vienna that extending the ceasefire and preventing the return of war to the Middle East are fundamental priorities. He emphasized that regional stability is crucial for global security.<\/p>\n
Referring to ongoing diplomatic efforts, Fidan expressed Turkey’s confidence in the diplomatic skills of Pakistani officials and voiced support for the negotiation process between Iran and the United States taking place in that country. According to him, continuing dialogue can help prevent escalation of tensions.<\/p>\n
The Turkish foreign minister also highlighted the special importance of demonstrating the parties\u2019 willingness to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world\u2019s strategic energy transit routes, and any restrictions there could have widespread economic consequences.<\/p>\n
In another part of his remarks, Fidan pointed to successive crises in various parts of the world and said close cooperation between Turkey and European countries is more necessary than ever. On Ankara\u2019s efforts to join the European Union, he stated that the EU is facing a lack of political will and expressed hope this obstacle will be overcome.<\/p>\n
