Officials from both countries have described this move as a significant step in the development of Bangladesh&#8217;s energy infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>The head of Rosatom called the activation of this unit a historic event for Bangladesh and stated that the project could play a decisive role in ensuring the country\u2019s sustainable electricity supply.<\/p>\n<p>The Rooppur nuclear power plant is located about 160 kilometers from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. The plant includes two VVER-1200 model reactors with a total capacity of 2,400 megawatts. It was constructed based on a contract signed on December 25, and its development phase is still ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>Loading of nuclear fuel into the reactor of the first unit is considered a crucial stage of the project.
