Pakistan’s Defense Minister condemned the US and Israeli military attacks on Iran during the meeting of defense ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states in Bishkek and announced Islamabad’s solidarity with the Iranian people. He also expressed condolences on the martyrdom of the late Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, describing this event as part of the consequences of the imposed 12-day war.<\/p>\n
Khawaja Muhammad Asif, referring to the statement from the meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) defense ministers in Tianjin, China, condemned attacks against civilian targets and infrastructure in Iran, stating that these actions have intensified crisis and instability in the region. He emphasized that Islamabad has always opposed measures that increase regional tensions in international forums.<\/p>\n
The Pakistani defense minister also called for a collective response from SCO members to manage the crisis resulting from the war against Iran. According to him, the ongoing events in the Middle East are not confined to a single geography and could turn into a widespread global shock.<\/p>\n
Khawaja Asif referred to the International Court of Justice\u2019s ruling regarding the possibility of “genocide” in the region, stating that continued conflict undermines peace efforts and heightens the risk of escalating humanitarian and security crises. He expressed regret over the loss of civilian lives in Iran and stressed Pakistan\u2019s solidarity with the Iranian people.<\/p>\n
He also welcomed the SCO statement on Middle East developments, stating that resolving disputes through dialogue, mutual respect, consideration of legitimate interests of all parties, and adherence to international law is the only way to reduce tensions.<\/p>\n
The Pakistani defense minister added that his country, as a trusted mediator, will continue diplomatic efforts to achieve a peaceful resolution and supports dialogue over conflict.
