The Hebrew-language newspaper Haaretz has reported that since the beginning of this calendar year, more than 10 Israeli soldiers have taken their own lives. According to the newspaper, six soldiers have committed suicide just in the current month, a figure that has intensified concerns about the mental health of military personnel.<\/p>\n
Haaretz had previously reported that the war against Iran has had widespread psychological repercussions on Israeli society. According to that report, millions are facing severe, clinical-level mental health issues.<\/p>\n
The newspaper writes that one in five Israelis shows signs of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Additionally, around seven percent of the population struggle with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), while cases of depression, anxiety, and addiction have also risen significantly.<\/p>\n
A coalition of mental health organizations operating in the occupied territories believes Israeli society is facing a ‘psychological tsunami’ whose full consequences are not yet fully visible.
