The Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department of Kandahar province has announced the completion and inauguration of an irrigation canal construction project in Miywand district, costing over 3 million Afghanis.<\/p>\n
According to Rahmatullah Shakir, the press officer of the department, the canal was constructed in the village of Garmabk in Miywand district with financial support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), at a cost of 3 million and 2 thousand Afghanis.<\/p>\n
The canal stretches 650 meters in length and 60 centimeters in width. It is expected to irrigate hundreds of acres of agricultural land in the area. Local residents say that with the activation of this canal, agricultural yields will improve and the livelihoods of farming families will be strengthened.<\/p>\n
Several residents of Garmabk village expressed their satisfaction with the project\u2019s implementation and have called for similar developmental projects in other areas of Miywand district.
