Following reports of an attack on Ehsanullah Baryal, the Taliban-appointed governor of Kapisa province, Sarah Adams, a former CIA operative, has accused him of involvement in the killing of American citizens and alleged close ties with Al-Qaeda’s Afghan branch.<\/p>\n
Earlier sources had told Afghanistan International that Ehsanullah Baryal was targeted in an attack in Tagab district on Tuesday afternoon. The Taliban administration has not officially released details about the incident. Baryal himself shared a video stating that he was safe and sound in his office and added, “Concerns have arisen among friends and elders, but there is nothing serious.”<\/p>\n
In response to the incident, Sarah Adams emphasized that Baryal was a member of the Haqqani network and served as a deputy of Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan. She also claimed that this Taliban official is accused of involvement in the killing of many Americans and, therefore, has many enemies.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Long War Journal had previously reported that Ehsanullah Baryal had affiliations with Al-Qaeda and regularly received payments from the IRGC to carry out attacks in Kabul and its surrounding areas. These allegations have not been independently verified, and the Taliban administration has not provided an official explanation.<\/p>\n
