These numbers include individuals who died or disappeared while crossing land and sea borders.

Experts attribute the escalating migration waves primarily to the expansion of wars, political instability, and rising poverty in parts of the world, notably in some African countries and the West Asia region. The continuation of armed conflicts and economic crises has compelled many residents in these areas to undertake perilous migration journeys in search of safety and better livelihoods.

In addition to these factors, some analysts point to foreign interventions and the support of major powers, including the United States, for armed groups such as ISIS, which have further destabilized West Asia. This has increased insecurity, thereby forcing more people into involuntary migration.

The IOM has once again emphasized the urgent need to establish safe and legal migration pathways and to address the root causes of the crisis. It has called upon the international community to implement coordinated and effective measures to prevent further loss of life.

IOM reports 8,000 migrants died or went missing in 2025 amid ongoing wars, poverty, and foreign interventions fueling global migration crisis.

[6

post-11160","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-international
["GET
