These individuals were moved to Qatar following the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan and are currently residing in a refugee camp there.

According to the report, among these individuals are more than 400 children, with many adults including translators, commando forces, and family members of American military personnel. These people had collaborated with US forces during two decades of military presence in Afghanistan.

The refugee support organization Afghan Evac has stated that the option of returning to Afghanistan was previously offered to these individuals; however, this option faced widespread opposition and fear due to serious concerns over retaliation by the Taliban government. Since the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, numerous reports have emerged of arrests, threats, and persecution of military personnel and former collaborators of foreign forces.

Meanwhile, US State Department officials have indicated efforts to close the Afghan refugee camp in Qatar and have even offered financial assistance for voluntary repatriation. However, neither the White House nor the US State Department has officially commented on the plan to relocate these individuals to Congo or any negotiations related to it.

Some refugee rights advocates and several US Congress members have condemned the plan as a ‘betrayal of America’s allies’ and warned of its humanitarian and security implications. They emphasized that these individuals face serious risks due to their cooperation with US forces and require a secure and sustainable solution.

The US is considering relocating 1,100 Afghan allies from Qatar to Congo amid fears of Taliban retaliation and ongoing refugee challenges.

[17,6

post-11122","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-important-news","category-international
["GET
