The NewLines Institute has introduced a new plan called “Silk S7+” to the United States Congress aimed at strengthening economic and trade cooperation among Central Asian countries, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Azerbaijan. This proposal was presented on Monday, April 20 (31 Hamal in the Persian calendar), focusing on creating new trade and transit routes between these countries and global markets.<\/p>\n
According to the proposal, efforts will be made to establish more regular connectivity between the region and markets in Europe, the Middle East, and East Asia. The plan’s architects emphasize that developing new transportation corridors and regional infrastructure can increase trade exchanges and generate new economic opportunities.<\/p>\n
Within this framework, Afghanistan is mainly defined as a transit route and connecting point between Central Asia and South Asia, highlighting the country\u2019s geographic role in regional dynamics. The plan concentrates on cooperation in energy, water management, infrastructure development, and trade facilitation.<\/p>\n
One of the key objectives of “Silk S7+” is to reduce the region\u2019s dependence on major powers such as China and Russia and to create an “alternative economic option.” Several American and Western policymakers have supported this initiative, viewing it as part of a broader geopolitical competition in the region.<\/p>\n
