The Green Movement, led by Amrullah Saleh, former Vice President of Afghanistan, has announced the launch of a slogan-writing campaign against the Taliban administration in the city of Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province. The group states that as long as it has access to weapons and ammunition, these actions will continue in military zones.<\/p>\n
According to a statement released by the movement, members of its military unit have written slogans including “Death to the Taliban” and “Death to the leader of this regime” on the walls of some military checkpoints. These actions come as the Taliban administration has previously imposed strict security restrictions in major cities, especially in the northern part of the country.<\/p>\n
The Green Movement had earlier carried out similar slogan-writing activities in Samangan province. The group is among the few armed opposition factions to the Taliban administration that openly claim responsibility for some protest and military activities.<\/p>\n
This week, the movement also claimed to have launched an attack on Taliban forces in the village of Chahar Ali, located in the Ishkashim district of Panjshir province. The Taliban administration has not yet officially commented on this incident.<\/p>\n
