Pakistani media have reported that three civilians, including a woman and two children, were killed and three others wounded in gunfire attributed to Taliban administration forces in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The incident occurred on Wednesday in the border village of Malik Shahin in the Katkot area of Bajaur district.<\/p>\n
According to the Express Tribune newspaper, all the victims belonged to one family, and the wounded were taken to a hospital for treatment. Pakistani sources said the condition of some of the injured was critical.<\/p>\n
The report claimed that Taliban administration forces recently attempted to infiltrate several armed individuals into Pakistani territory, but the Pakistani army prevented this. The media outlet alleged that after this attempt failed, civilian areas in Katkot were targeted by gunfire; if confirmed, this would constitute a clear violation of civilian immunity and accepted international norms.<\/p>\n
The Pakistani army stated that in immediate response, it targeted the firing positions across the border and also destroyed several bases attributed to the Taliban administration along the Bajaur border. This conflict comes as delegations from both sides held talks in China recently to reduce border tensions. Despite these negotiations, continued violence has heightened concerns among residents of the border areas.
