Kazem Jalali, Iran’s ambassador to Russia, announced that currently there is no necessary trust between Tehran and Washington, and any potential negotiations must lead to tangible results and ensure lasting peace in the region. He emphasized that Iran is not seeking war and is ready for dialogue, provided the process yields practical outcomes.<\/p>\n
According to Mehr News Agency via Al Mayadeen, Jalali stated that the United States initially spoke of overthrowing the Iranian regime at the start of tensions, but according to him, this objective was not achieved. He added that if the American side adopts a sincere approach to negotiations, achieving results is possible.<\/p>\n
The Iranian ambassador, referring to the existing mistrust between the two countries, said that from Tehran\u2019s perspective, the main problem is the U.S. officials\u2019 failure to adhere to their commitments. He also mentioned that Iran was close to resolving some issues in previous talks and claimed that Tehran has not sought to acquire nuclear weapons.<\/p>\n
In another part of his remarks, Jalali pointed to contradictions in the statements of U.S. President Donald Trump and reiterated that Iran is not pursuing the development of nuclear bombs. He also asserted that despite the deaths of several Iranian military commanders, the country\u2019s military structure has continued operating and maintained its operational capabilities.<\/p>\n
He further stated that Iran does not prioritize entering new conflicts and strives to establish peace in the region and the world. Jalali also said that contrary to some claims, Iran\u2019s defensive capabilities remain active.<\/p>\n
Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, the Iranian ambassador said that the legal framework for this strategic passage is determined by the coastal countries, especially Iran and Oman. According to him, Iran has not taken any steps recently to close the strait and aims to stabilize its legal mechanisms.<\/p>\n
