The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has reported that nearly 100,000 residents of the Bargi Matal and Kamdesh districts in Nuristan province have been cut off from essential services due to the severed road connection with the provincial center. According to the agency, the destruction of routes following attacks by Pakistani forces has effectively isolated these mountainous areas.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, March 7, OCHA explained in a report that only one road connects these two districts to the Nari district in Kunar province; local residents say traveling this route involves serious risks. The report states that vehicles using this road are targeted by gunfire from Pakistani soldiers.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, OCHA has announced the displacement of 94,000 people as a result of ongoing military clashes between Taliban forces and Pakistan. These displaced individuals are scattered across the provinces of Khost, Nangarhar, Paktika, and Paktia and are in urgent need of humanitarian aid.<\/p>\n
Amid continued insecurity, 25 health centers and 41 schools in Kabul, Khost, Kunar, Nangarhar, Paktia, and Paktika have been damaged or forced to cease operations due to shelling and instability. The closure of educational and health facilities has heightened concerns about the safety and well-being of civilians.<\/p>\n
OCHA also confirmed that an employee of an international organization was killed in gunfire by Pakistani forces.<\/p>\n
The escalation of clashes along the border continues as local residents complain about the lack of effective measures to ensure security and reopen vital routes.
