The head of the National Emergency Preparedness Department under the Taliban has called on the international community and global organizations to collaborate in clearing mines and unexploded ordnance in Afghanistan. He stated that these explosive threats continue to endanger the lives of thousands of the country’s residents.<\/p>\n
Nouruddin Turabi, speaking at a program in Kabul, described mines and unexploded ammunition as “hidden enemies of humanity” and added that over the past 45 years, numerous citizens, especially children, have been harmed by the detonation of these explosives.<\/p>\n
Afghanistan is among the countries heavily contaminated by landmines and leftover munitions due to decades of conflict. This situation not only poses a serious threat to civilian lives but also hinders the safe return of displaced persons and the effective use of agricultural lands.<\/p>\n
