According to Mohammad Yousuf Hamad, spokesperson for the authority, these incidents have resulted in 474 casualties, including 96 deaths.

According to the provided information, a significant portion of the victims are civilians who traveled through mine-contaminated areas. The explosion of mines and leftover ammunition from past wars remains one of the most serious threats to residents of various regions of the country.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has stated that nearly one thousand square kilometers of Afghan territory remain contaminated with unexploded ordnance. According to the report, around three million people live near these areas and face daily risks.

Despite the widespread threat, the mine clearance process has faced serious challenges in recent years. It is expected that the Taliban administration, in cooperation with international agencies, will implement more effective and transparent programs for clearing contaminated areas and raising awareness among residents. Continuing this situation persistently endangers the lives of civilians.

Afghanistan records 474 casualties from mines and unexploded ordnance between April 2022 and March 2023 amid ongoing clearance challenges.

[17,5

post-10261","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-important-news","category-security-incidents
["GET
