The claim comes as the confrontations between the two sides enter their sixth week, raising concerns about escalating tensions.

Taliban-run national radio and television, citing local officials in Khost, reported that the event took place in a border area where both sides opened fire on each other using light and heavy weapons. According to these sources, the border post was seized during the fighting, and Pakistani forces suffered casualties. Pakistani officials have yet to comment on the incident.

The clashes have intensified since February 26 of this year, involving exchanges of artillery fire, drone attacks, and air strikes. The United Nations has reported that more than 76 civilians have died in eastern Afghanistan during the first two weeks of the conflict. The Taliban administration has provided higher casualty figures, but these numbers have not been independently verified.

Continued violence has displaced tens of thousands of families from border areas and damaged civilian infrastructure, exacerbating the existing humanitarian crisis in the region. Local residents complain about the lack of basic facilities and effective aid, a situation for which the Taliban administration is held responsible for ensuring security and managing the crisis.

Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions continue in China. Delegations from the Taliban administration and Pakistan have been engaged in talks in the city of Urumqi since last week. Hosted by Beijing, these negotiations are seen as a potential pathway to de-escalation.

Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting Foreign Minister of the Taliban administration, said on Sunday that their delegation participated in the talks with a “sincere and solution-oriented approach” and seeks to resolve differences through dialogue. However, he emphasized that they will defend “Afghanistan’s territorial integrity.”

Chinese authorities have reported progress in the talks but have not provided further details. Pakistani sources indicated the discussions might continue for several more days and likely mark the beginning of a longer process rather than an immediate agreement.

The main dispute between the two sides remains unresolved. Pakistan accuses the Taliban administration of failing to take effective action against the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a group responsible for attacks within Pakistan. The Taliban have denied the allegations, but a UN monitoring team has reported that the TTP has close to six thousand fighters in Afghanistan, adding to the complexity of the situation.

Taliban claims capture of Pakistani border post amid ongoing clashes, while diplomatic talks in China seek to ease tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

[17,4

post-10135","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-important-news","category-politics
["GET
