Palestinian Prisoners Center Reports Death of 86 Prisoners in Israeli Jails

The Palestinian Prisoners Center has announced that between October 2023 and December 2025, at least 86 Palestinian prisoners have died in Israeli prisons; an unprecedented and alarming statistic according to the organization.

According to the Palestinian news agency Shehab, the media office of the Palestinian Prisoners emphasized that the recorded cases indicate a systematic pattern of torture, mistreatment, and deliberate neglect of the prisoners’ health conditions in Israeli detention centers. The organization states that many of these deaths were preventable.

Details of the report reveal that 47 prisoners died as a result of torture, beatings, and simultaneous deprivation of adequate medical treatment. Additionally, 41 other prisoners lost their lives due to diseases and injuries such as cancer, diabetes, scabies, and infected wounds, all of which could have been treated.

The report further notes that 22 prisoners have disappeared during detention, and their fate remains unknown. Among the deceased are civilians, doctors, aid workers, long-term prisoners, and injured individuals. It is also mentioned that some of them were used as “human shields.”

The report adds that the deaths occurred either inside the prisons or in Israeli hospitals while the prisoners were under the supervision of security forces; a fact that legally places direct responsibility for these deaths on Israeli authorities.
