Six Dead and One Missing in Last Night’s Earthquake in Kabul

The Taliban administration office in Kabul has announced that six people have died and one person is missing following last night’s earthquake in the province. According to the office, a residential house in the ‘Gosfand Dara’ area of Bagrami has been completely destroyed.
The earthquake occurred around 8:45 PM and shook parts of the country. Local sources reported that the tremors were most strongly felt in the provinces of Kabul, Parwan, and Kapisa.
At the same time, several social media users reported feeling the earthquake in the provinces of Balkh, Panjshir, Ghazni, Badakhshan, Paktika, Takhar, Baghlan, and Kunduz.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported the earthquake’s magnitude as 5.9 on the Richter scale and stated that its epicenter was located at a depth of 175 kilometers underground, on the border area between Afghanistan and Tajikistan. So far, no further details about potential damages in other areas have been released.
