Flood Death Toll Rises to 51 Across 18 Provinces in Afghanistan

The spokesperson for the Disaster Management Authority under the Taliban administration has announced that due to heavy rainfall and flooding over the past 24 hours, at least three people have died and 16 others have been injured. With these new cases, the total number of flood victims in various provinces over the last four days has risen to 51.
Yousuf Hammad, the spokesperson for the authority, said in a video message on Thursday, April 2, that the rainfall and flooding over the past 24 hours have affected 18 provinces. According to him, the severity of the rains has completely destroyed 348 residential homes and damaged 798 others.
Based on the provided information, the floods have also damaged 244 kilometers of roads and 3,048 hectares of agricultural land. As a result of these incidents, 201 families have been displaced and are in urgent need of assistance.
The provinces of Kabul, Panjshir, Paktika, Khost, Logar, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, Kandahar, Zabul, Uruzgan, Herat, Faryab, Badghis, Jawzjan, Baghlan, Badakhshan, Nangarhar, and Laghman are among the areas that have witnessed heavy rainfall and flooding.
Afghanistan is one of the countries vulnerable to natural disasters; however, many residents in various areas constantly complain about the lack of preventive measures and timely response after such events. It is expected that the Taliban administration will implement more effective measures for crisis management and support for the affected families.
