Construction Progresses on $13 Million Arghandi Terminal in Kabul

The Taliban’s Transport and Aviation Department has announced significant progress in the construction of a standard passenger terminal and a dedicated parking area for cargo trucks in the Arghandi area of Kabul province. The project, valued at over 1,300 million Afghanis (approximately $13 million), is advancing according to plan.
According to the department, the project implementation is proceeding as scheduled, with efforts focused on completing the work with adequate quality within the designated timeframe. However, no specific details regarding the exact percentage of completion or the precise operational date have been provided.
Arghandi, located west of Kabul, is a key transit point through which a substantial volume of passenger and cargo vehicles pass. The establishment of a standard terminal and parking area is expected to play a role in reducing traffic disorder and improving transportation services along this route.
Nonetheless, some local residents and transportation sector activists have consistently emphasized that transparency in the use of public funds and the provision of regular progress reports for major infrastructure projects are fundamental responsibilities of the Taliban administration. This accountability is seen as essential to building public trust in such initiatives.
