Wave of Insecurity in Kabul: Attack on Former Government Employee’s Family Leaves One Dead

Halim Fadaei, former governor of Logar and Khost provinces, has reported that 10 unidentified gunmen raided the home of an ordinary former government employee in Kabul, killing one person and injuring two others. According to him, the incident occurred on Tuesday, the 11th of Hamal.
Fadaei wrote on his Facebook page that the target of the attack was an individual named Hayran, who served as a regular employee under the previous government. He stated that the attackers killed one of Hayran’s brothers and stabbed another.
He added that after beating family members, the armed individuals stole gold, cash, mobile phones, and some personal jewelry belonging to the women of the family. Another one of Hayran’s brothers, who had recently returned from abroad, was severely beaten, suffering broken arms and legs.
This incident comes just one day after a master’s student from Faryab province was killed by armed robbers while traveling near the Hairatan border in Mazar-i-Sharif city.
Despite the Taliban administration’s claims of nationwide security, citizens across various parts of the country complain about rising criminal activities and lack of effective response. The continuation of such incidents raises serious questions about how security is being managed and the accountability of the responsible institutions.
