Border Tensions Displace Children and Families in Paktika Province

A representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has reported that border tensions in Paktika province have forced numerous children and families to flee their homes. According to the representative, these families have temporarily taken shelter in schools and the homes of acquaintances.
On Monday, 10 Hamal, Tajuddin Owywali wrote on X that UNICEF teams, in collaboration with the World Food Programme and supported by their partners, have begun distributing health packages and food supplies to affected families. He emphasized that humanitarian needs in the affected areas continue to increase.
This situation arises amid ongoing clashes and military tensions between Taliban administration forces and Pakistan along the border line; a scenario that once again endangers civilians, especially children. Relief organizations have previously warned that continued instability in border regions limits families’ access to basic services.
Meanwhile, Hamdullah Fetrat, the deputy spokesperson for the Taliban administration, announced that in rocket attacks attributed to Pakistan in Kunar province, one person was killed and 16 others injured. This incident was reported following the declaration of a temporary ceasefire.
The continuation of the conflict occurs while residents of border areas demand sustained security and prevention of harm to civilians—a demand that has yet to receive a clear and practical response.
