Two Killed in Flash Floods in Herat Amid Widespread Rainfall in Afghanistan

Media outlets under Taliban administration have reported that two people have died following flash floods in Herat province. The National Radio and Television, which operates under Taliban control, announced on Monday, April 10, that the floods caused not only casualties but also significant material damage.
Despite the report, no detailed information has been provided regarding the exact location of the floods in Herat, nor is it clear which district or area suffered the most damage. The lack of specific information about affected areas complicates the assessment of damages and the prompt relief efforts for those impacted.
Simultaneously, reports indicate that floods have also caused financial losses in some districts and the provincial center of Samangan. However, precise data regarding the extent of the damage and the condition of affected families have not been released.
The Taliban administration had announced the previous day that natural events caused by heavy rainfall have resulted in approximately 17 deaths across more than 10 provinces in the country. Afghanistan is among the countries that face deadly floods annually during the rainy season, and experts consistently emphasize the need for preventive measures and effective disaster management programs.
