Lightning Strike Kills Man in Samangan Province

The Taliban’s security command in Samangan province has announced that a 45-year-old man died after being struck by lightning in the Khurram and Sarbagh district of the province. The incident occurred after noon on Saturday, March 27.
Hashmatullah Rahmani, spokesperson for the Taliban security command in Samangan, stated that the accident happened around 2 p.m. in the Bargzak Koh-Bast area.
According to him, the man, a local resident, was struck by lightning while moving his livestock to a pasture and subsequently lost his life.
Samangan is a northern province of Afghanistan where, particularly in mountainous and open areas, the risk of lightning strikes increases during the rainy season. Local residents sometimes face dangers related to these weather conditions.
