Taliban Reviews Visa Exemption for Iranian Transit Trucks at Islam Qala Border

The Herat Provincial Press Office has announced that during Nawroz Ahmed Islamjar, the governor of Herat’s visit to the Islam Qala border port, the implementation of new facilities for Iranian transit vehicles was examined. This move is based on the Taliban administration’s decision to cancel visas and road passes for these vehicles.

According to Mohammad Yousuf Saeedi, spokesman for the Herat governor, a meeting was held during this visit with officials from relevant sectors to assess customs readiness for implementing this decision. He stated that the resolution applies to Iranian cargo trucks engaged in transit activities.

Provided information indicates that starting from Saturday, foreign cargo vehicles will be allowed to enter the Islam Qala border without the need for visas or road passes, unload their commercial goods, and then return to their original destinations.

Islam Qala port, located west of Herat, is considered one of the most important trade gateways between Afghanistan and Iran, and any regulatory changes there could affect trade and transit processes along this route. However, the Taliban administration has not yet released further details regarding the monitoring mechanisms or the duration of validity for this decision.
