426 Afghan Migrants Released from Pakistani Prisons and Returned Home

The Taliban’s Ministry of Migrants and Returnees has announced that 426 Afghan migrants have been released from Pakistani prisons and returned to Afghanistan over the past week.

According to a statement from the ministry, the Department of Migrants Affairs in Kandahar province reported that these individuals entered Afghanistan through the Spin Boldak Transit Authority. The department said the detainees had been held in Pakistani prisons for periods ranging from one day to two months.

Officials added that after registration and receipt of initial humanitarian aid at the said authority, the migrants were transferred to their respective home areas.

In recent months, the arrest and deportation of Afghan migrants from Pakistan have increased, raising concerns among migrant families and aid organizations regarding their legal and humanitarian status.
