Pakistan Continues Targeted Operations in Afghanistan Against Militant Groups, Says Foreign Minister

Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, announced that the country’s targeted operations inside Afghan territory against the groups Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) are ongoing. He stated that these measures aim to eliminate terrorist threats and ensure Pakistan’s national security.
In a message on the occasion of Pakistan Day, Dar emphasized that fighting what he termed cross-border threats is part of Islamabad’s broader strategy to maintain regional stability. According to him, Pakistani security forces act with “dedication” in this effort, and the sacrifices of the military and civilians reflect Islamabad’s serious commitment to combating terrorism.
These remarks come amid rising tensions in recent months between Pakistan and the Taliban administration over the activities of armed groups opposing Islamabad. Pakistani officials have repeatedly claimed that some of these groups operate from areas within Afghanistan and carry out actions against Pakistan from there.
The Taliban administration has previously denied such allegations, stating it does not permit the use of Afghan soil against other countries. However, the continuation of Pakistan’s cross-border operations has raised concerns regarding violations of Afghanistan’s sovereignty and the security implications for residents of border areas. This issue calls for greater transparency and accountability from the Taliban authorities in controlling militant groups.
