UN Chief Guterres Condemns Airstrike on Kabul Addiction Treatment Center

Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, has strongly condemned the killing and injuring of civilians following a Pakistani airstrike on an addiction treatment center in Kabul. He has called for an independent and impartial investigation into the incident.
Farhan Haq, spokesperson for the United Nations, stated at a press conference on Wednesday that the attack, which took place on March 16, reportedly caused civilian casualties. He added that the UN Secretary-General strongly condemns this event.
Guterres emphasized that under international humanitarian law, patients, healthcare personnel, and medical facilities must be protected and respected under all circumstances. Attacking such sites constitutes a serious violation of accepted international principles.
Meanwhile, the Taliban administration, as the governing body in Kabul, is expected to clarify how the attack occurred and the extent of casualties, as well as facilitate a transparent investigation. International organizations consistently stress accountability and the protection of civilians in any conflict.
