Iran Calls for De-escalation Between Taliban Administration and Pakistan Amid Rising Clashes

Iran has urged for a reduction in tensions between the Taliban administration and Pakistan. Esmail Baqaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed concern over the escalating clashes between the Taliban-led government and Pakistan, emphasizing the necessity of diplomatic solutions to prevent further tension spread.
On Wednesday, March 17, Baqaei responded to recent events, stating that the loss of numerous Afghan civilian lives during recent attacks on Kabul is a matter of serious concern. He expressed regret over the killing of civilians and destruction of property in the “neighboring and Muslim country.”
According to him, Iran is ready to provide any necessary assistance to reduce disputes and contain tensions between the Taliban administration and Pakistan.
These increased clashes come at a time when Afghan citizens have already been suffering from ongoing insecurity. Critics believe that the Taliban administration holds responsibility to prevent escalation of border tensions and to ensure the safety of residents in various parts of the country, a task that has faced serious challenges in recent months.
