Taliban Vows Retaliation After Pakistan Airstrike on Drug Rehabilitation Hospital

Abdul Matin Qani, spokesperson for the Taliban’s Ministry of Interior, announced that following last night’s Pakistani airstrike on a 2,000-bed drug rehabilitation hospital, the attack will not go unanswered. He stated that a “forceful response” will be delivered in the near future.

According to Qani, about two thousand people were receiving treatment at the health center during the attack, resulting in civilian casualties. He added that efforts to evacuate victims and conduct rescue operations are ongoing.

Sharafat Zaman, spokesperson for the Taliban’s Ministry of Public Health, also confirmed that the process of recovering bodies from under the rubble continues. However, precise details regarding the number of casualties and the extent of damage have not yet been officially released.

Qani criticized what he called the “silence of the international community and neighboring countries,” stating that no clear reaction has been observed so far. This incident occurs amid rising tensions between the Taliban administration and Pakistan in recent months, with growing concerns over border security and its impact on civilians.

Meanwhile, critics emphasize that the Taliban government is responsible for effectively protecting civilian facilities and citizens, and for transparently sharing detailed, documented information about security incidents with the public—a matter that has consistently been marked by ambiguity and lack of information in similar cases.
