Iran Warns of Potential ‘False Flag’ Operations in the Region

The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has warned of the possibility of “false flag” operations being carried out in the coming days, urging neighboring countries not to rush to judgment over security incidents. Esmail Baghayi stated that in the current complex and tense environment, there is a risk of actions designed to create divisions between Iran and other regional countries.

In response to a question about the history of such operations, he referred to the “Savannah” operation in 1954, describing it as a documented example of actions later attributed to Israel. According to Baghayi, bombings targeted facilities related to Britain in Egypt at that time to make the Egyptian government appear responsible and to prevent the withdrawal of British forces. He added that this operation was exposed and several individuals were arrested and killed.

Baghayi also said that years later, in 2003 and 2004, Israeli officials admitted the coordination of that operation. He alleged that similar incidents have occurred in recent decades but no one has taken responsibility for them.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, referring to some reports about the arrest of Mossad agents in Saudi Arabia and Qatar, added that following those events, drone and missile attacks took place in Cyprus, Turkey, and Azerbaijan. According to him, Iranian armed forces denied responsibility for these attacks. Baghayi noted that some have suggested the drone deviations were due to technical interference, but he believes the possibility of false flag operations is also plausible.

He emphasized that Iran formally announces any military actions it has carried out and explicitly denies involvement when it has no role. Baghayi called on neighboring countries to carefully and vigilantly monitor developments and avoid prejudgment.
