Human Rights Watch Accuses Israel of Using White Phosphorus in Southern Lebanon

Human Rights Watch has reported that Israel used white phosphorus munitions in its recent attacks on southern Lebanon, with these materials landing in densely populated civilian areas. According to the report, these attacks targeted the Yohmor region on March 3rd.
The human rights organization, citing collected images and data, stated that white phosphorus was dropped on a residential area. Human Rights Watch said the available evidence indicates that the targeted area was inhabited by civilians.
White phosphorus is a substance whose use in residential areas has long been criticized by human rights groups due to the serious risks it poses to civilian lives and its potential to cause widespread fires. The substance can cause severe burns and leave long-term environmental damage.
It has also been reported that in recent days, the areas of Tal Nahas and Khiam were targeted with munitions containing white phosphorus. So far, Israeli officials have not issued any official response regarding these allegations.
