Taliban Leader Mullah Hebatullah Publishes New Book on Sunni Beliefs

The spokesperson for the Taliban administration announced the publication of a book titled “The Belief of Sunni and Jamaat,” authored by Mullah Hebatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Taliban administration. According to the spokesperson, the book has been published in Pashto and is planned to be translated and distributed in Dari, Uzbek, Turkmen, and other common languages spoken in the country.
Based on the provided information, the book emphasizes adherence to what is called the “correct belief” and practicing in accordance with Sharia law. The Taliban administration stated that this work has been prepared as a guideline for teachers, students, and the general readership on religious beliefs.
The release of this book comes at a time when the Taliban administration, over the past more than four years, has intensely focused on redefining educational curricula and directing education based on its interpretation of Sharia. Critics have repeatedly warned that standardizing religious interpretations and limiting intellectual diversity within educational institutions may lead to the exclusion of differing views and weaken the academic environment.
Given the centralized decision-making structure within the Taliban administration, the publication of such works could impact the content taught in religious schools and even some other educational institutions. This issue, according to some experts, requires greater transparency and broader participation of religious scholars with diverse viewpoints.
