Taliban and Russia Discuss Bilateral Relations and Tensions with Pakistan

The Taliban-run embassy in Moscow announced that Maulvi Gul Hassan Hasan, the representative of the Taliban administration in Russia, met with Zamir Kabulov, Russia’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, to discuss bilateral relations and recent developments.
According to a statement released by the embassy, both sides debated expanding cooperation between Kabul and Moscow. While specific areas of collaboration were not detailed, it was noted that political relations and bilateral interactions were central to the talks.
During the meeting, the Taliban representative conveyed the administration’s official stance regarding what it called “violations of Afghanistan’s sovereignty by Pakistan.” In recent months, tensions between Kabul and Islamabad have risen, becoming a significant topic in regional discussions.
On the other hand, Zamir Kabulov emphasized resolving disputes through dialogue and diplomacy, announcing that Russia is ready to act as a mediator to reduce tensions and address issues between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Russia’s offer of mediation comes as the Taliban administration remains unrecognized by any country, and political interactions with the Taliban are mainly conducted through practical and regional contacts.
