Pakistan Army Chief Warns Against Use of Afghan Territory for Attacks

Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, warned on Wednesday during a visit to South Waziristan that using Afghan soil to carry out armed attacks against Pakistan is “unacceptable.” He emphasized that border security is a red line for Islamabad.

According to a statement from the Pakistan Army, Munir met with troops stationed along the border with Afghanistan during this trip and stressed the continuation of operations to secure tribal areas. He asked the military forces to remain vigilant against cross-border threats.

The Pakistan Army chief once again claimed that Baloch militants and members of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) use Afghan territory to plan and execute attacks inside Pakistan. Pakistani officials have frequently made such allegations in the past.

Meanwhile, the Taliban administration has consistently denied these accusations, asserting that it does not permit Afghan territory to be used against any other country. However, the ongoing tensions and repeated security claims from Pakistan raise questions about the Taliban administration’s control over all border areas and how armed groups within Afghanistan are managed. This issue directly affects bilateral relations and the security situation of residents in border regions.
