Over 1,200 Foreign Tourists Visited Herat in the Current Solar Year

Local officials in Herat report that more than 1,200 foreign tourists have visited the province during the current solar year.

According to these officials, Herat remains one of the most important tourist destinations in western Afghanistan, with a steady number of foreign visitors traveling each year to explore its historical and cultural sites.

Herat, home to historical monuments such as the Great Mosque of Herat, the Ehterad-Din Citadel, and ancient minarets, holds a special place among provinces rich in cultural heritage. In recent years, this province has also been one of the main centers attracting tourists in Afghanistan.

The increase or sustained presence of foreign tourists in Herat comes at a time when the country’s tourism industry requires serious attention to infrastructure, travel facilities, and ensuring visitor confidence for its growth and sustainability.
