Taliban Quality Control Delegation Visits Turkmenistan to Assess Oil Imports

The Taliban-led Standards and Quality Department has announced that a delegation, headed by Mullah Faizullah Tamim, the department’s general director, has traveled to Turkmenistan to inspect the quality of imported oil and to evaluate sources and refineries. The delegation’s mission is to closely examine the processes of production, refining, storage, and export of petroleum products.

According to a released statement, the delegation will meet with relevant Turkmen officials during this official visit and will tour oil reserves, storage facilities, and refineries. The focus of these inspections is to ensure the provision of high-quality oil for Afghanistan’s markets.

The Standards and Quality Department stated that this initiative aims to prevent the entry of low-quality petroleum products, protect consumer rights, and serve the public interest. Nevertheless, in recent years, citizens and residents of some provinces have repeatedly complained about poor oil quality and its consequences on vehicles and economic activities—an issue that requires transparent and ongoing monitoring.

The department added that sending this delegation reflects the Taliban administration’s commitment to improving the quality and transparency of petroleum imports. Turkmenistan is one of the major exporters of petroleum products to Afghanistan, and the quality of these imports directly affects prices and the stability of the domestic market.

The statement also noted that this visit could strengthen economic cooperation between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan; however, the practical results of these inspections and their impact on improving oil quality in Afghan markets remain issues that the public expects to be clearly reported.
