Taliban Quality Control Delegation Travels to Turkmenistan to Inspect Imported Oil

The Taliban’s Department of Standards and Quality has announced that a delegation led by Mullah Faizullah Tamim, the department’s general director, has traveled to Turkmenistan to inspect the quality of imported oil and assess oil sources and refineries. The delegation’s mission is to closely examine the processes of production, refining, storage, and export of petroleum products.
According to the released statement, during this official trip, the delegation members will meet with relevant Turkmenistan officials and visit oil reserves, storage facilities, and refineries. The focus of these inspections is on how quality oil supply can be ensured for the Afghan markets.
The Department of Standards and Quality said this initiative is part of efforts to prevent the entry of poor-quality petroleum products, protect consumer rights, and safeguard the public interest. However, in recent years, residents of some provinces have repeatedly complained about the low quality of oil and its adverse effects on vehicles and economic activities—an issue that requires transparent and continuous monitoring.
The department added that dispatching this delegation demonstrates the Taliban administration’s commitment to improving quality and transparency in petroleum imports. Turkmenistan is considered one of the major exporters of petroleum products to Afghanistan, and the quality of these imports directly affects prices and the stability of the domestic market.
The statement also noted that this visit could help strengthen economic cooperation between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan. However, the practical outcomes of these inspections and their impact on improving oil quality in Afghan markets is a matter that citizens expect to be clearly reported.
