Taliban Threatens Peshawar and Quetta, Vows Nighttime Presence if Permitted

The head of the Taliban’s North-East Military Court has warned that if permitted by their leadership, their forces will be present on the “second night” in the Pakistani cities of Peshawar and Quetta. Sheikh Abdulhadi Hemmat made these remarks today during a graduation ceremony for defense forces in Kunduz province.
At the event, he emphasized that defending the “nation” and seeking revenge is an obligatory duty. Hemmat also labeled Pakistan as a “cowardly enemy,” claiming that the country has never won a war in its history and has repeatedly attacked Afghanistan to please the United States.
These statements come amid rising verbal tensions between the Taliban administration and Pakistani officials in recent months. The explicit military threats may heighten concerns about increased instability in the region.
Some political experts believe such rhetoric may complicate the security situation further and negatively impact relations between the two sides, rather than easing tensions. However, there has been no official response from Pakistani authorities regarding these remarks so far.
