International Investigation: Nearly 1,000 Bullets Fired at Gaza Aid Convoy in Rafah

Joint investigations by international organizations Airshout and Forensic Architecture reveal that Israeli forces in the Tel al-Sultan area in northern Rafah fired nearly 1,000 bullets at an aid convoy affiliated with the Red Crescent and Gaza Civil Defense. According to the findings, this extensive shooting occurred despite the convoy clearly displaying signs identifying it as an aid operation.
The incident, which took place on March 23, 2025, in southern Gaza Strip, resulted in the deaths of at least 15 aid workers. The report states that the shooting continued for over two hours, during which the aid convoy posed no threat nor returned fire against the Israeli soldiers.
The investigation further details that eight bullets were fired from a very close range at the convoy, raising serious questions about adherence to international humanitarian law and the protection of aid workers. Targeting aid personnel during armed conflicts constitutes a blatant violation of established international war rules.
Local sources in Gaza also reported that some individuals who initially survived the first attack were executed on the spot. Autopsy findings indicate close-range gunshots to the heads and chests of some victims, with one body found without a head, underscoring the horrifying nature of the event.
