World Bank Allocates $143 Million to Afghanistan Livelihood Project

The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) has announced that the World Bank and the Afghanistan Resilience Fund have collectively allocated $143 million for the “Afghanistan Community Resilience and Livelihood” project. This new funding aims to enhance job opportunities and improve access to essential services nationwide.
According to released information, $95 million of this financial package comes from the World Bank, while the remaining $48 million is provided by the Afghanistan Resilience Fund. With this addition, the total budget for the project has reached $562 million.
UNOPS stated that the new resources will enable the expansion of project activities across all 34 provinces. The program focuses on creating employment opportunities, strengthening family livelihoods, and providing basic services to millions of Afghan residents.
This announcement comes as Afghanistan faces a widespread economic crisis and a reduction in job opportunities. Many international organizations have previously emphasized that the continuation of such programs requires transparency in implementation and equal access for citizens in all areas of the country, under Taliban administration, to ensure that aid effectively reaches those in need.
