17 Arrested in Ghazni for Motorcycle Theft Amid Rising Organized Crime

The Ghazni provincial police department announced the arrest of 17 individuals accused of involvement in the theft of 25 motorcycles across various parts of the province.
According to a statement from the department, during several separate operations conducted in the city of Ghazni and some districts, 12 of the detainees were accused of stealing 21 motorcycles. Authorities recovered 8 stolen motorcycles from these individuals, along with narcotics, knives and daggers, military uniforms, and electronic devices. The police stated that 13 other motorcycles had already been sold prior to the operations.
In another part of the operation, five additional individuals were arrested in the city center of Ghazni and Gilan district, along with 4 stolen motorcycles.
Local officials said that after verifying ownership documents, some of the recovered motorcycles have been returned to their rightful owners.
This comes amid a lack of transparent structures and effective oversight by security agencies, which has led to a rise in armed thefts and organized crimes in many provinces across the country. The Taliban administration claims to ensure the security of citizens and prevent the spread of crime, but reports of increasing insecurity continue to emerge from various regions.
