Herat Carpet Exports Rise; Producers Report Improved Business

Several carpet producers in Herat province report that with an increase in exports of locally made carpets abroad, their business conditions have improved compared to the past. They state that the growth in exports has led to higher demand and more job opportunities.
Carpet weavers in the province say the carpet industry has expanded in recent years compared to earlier periods, with new markets emerging for their products. They emphasize that the rise in orders has played a significant role in strengthening their production activities.
Local officials also confirm that many men and women are employed in carpet weaving, successfully introducing Afghan carpets to global markets. According to them, this industry is an important source of employment in certain areas.
Carpet weaving is considered one of Afghanistan’s ancient industries, with the northern provinces being among the main production centers. This industry has a long historical background and has consistently been a part of Afghanistan’s non-oil exports.
